──── A sentence they'd often say. The first among the four offspring of a brooding Angura man and an exiled Qestir woman, Yesugei grew up in a ger where actions would speak rather than words. Erdenechimeg, their mother, wasn’t against speaking; yet some old habits would never die and often struggled to provide enough communication to her children.Khartsaga, albeit a hard working and skilled man, lacked in expressing himself either. Yesugei can often find themselves thinking about how cold it felt from being by their father’s side, though they can also remark the sheer coldness could also be from the harsh environment of The Tail Mountains.Since they were a young Au Ra, Yesugei grew to be a reindeer herder, just like their father, providing meat and skin for the Angura tribe. Trading a bit with the Ura and the Khatayin would be a great opportunity to grow up in their talking skills.Yet, in adulthood they found themselves following a different path, becoming a rogyapa to their tribe and performing sky burials as a ‘body breaker’.return.
Given the scarce wood in the glaciers and the soil being too rough to bury a body, sky burials can be quite common between people from the cold mountains.Ironically enough, when dealing with the dead, the Angura rogyapa becomes more talkative among the other body breakers; they must perform the rite while showing a lighthearted demeanor and high spirits, for it can help guide the dead to transcend from darkness to the aether stream.But besides their work partners, how to deal with the living? Sometimes, they act like a detached loner, sitting by themselves inside their ger, taking a good sip on their airag. Musing about the impermanence of life, despite feeling stagnant, and how death is not the only method of ending cycles.Their travels to the Reunion on the back of their yol aren’t only for buying juniper incense to the rituals, but also to meet new faces and learn more about the Xaela folk apart from their tribe. They crave to feel something new, to be part of something else. A glacier who wants to be melted, to meet new people and make ties to them, but still not knowing how.
